DIGITAL SALES TOOLS
HENRICO CASA
NEED: CASA was finding it difficult for their volunteers and staff to consistently communicate the transformative effects of their programs. CASA relies heavily on a number of volunteers. They were looking for an easy and effective way to consistently train their staff and volunteers in order to drive alignment around key message with their donors.
DISCOVERY: Flatland held multiple consultations/meetings with key staff and stakeholders to better understand their current challenges, the culture of their organization, and the audience they were trying to reach.
SOLUTION: We identified that a Digital Sales Tool would be the best solution for training and for in-person donor conversations. We collaborated with CASA in script consultation, visual storytelling and messaging. Artistically the final video was a visually compelling animation that combined doodled stick-figure characters with a rich 3d background. CASA now uses this video regularly to introduce their mission and their work to potential donors, new partners and a wider Richmond audience. It provides clear messaging and important data within a dramatic story, empowering everyone across the CASA advocacy teams, from their executive directors to event coordinators and volunteers, to deliver a strong and consistent message.
OUTCOME: “We are still so very grateful and love using this to share our mission. It gets such a great response,” exclaims Jeannine Panzera, CASA’s Executive Director. The entire advocacy team uses the video to provide consistent messaging and alignment on who they are, who they serve, and how they serve them. The video won a Telly award, a Muse award and a VEGA award, and even inspired playful decorations for their display at the Christmas Under the Clocktower event.
DELIVERABLE: 3 minute video. Premium digital 2d animation with 3d environment design.
“We show this video at the beginning of every presentation we make.
It allows our conversations with donors and political leaders to begin with a firm understanding of the work we do and the children and lives we impact”

DOMINION ENERGY: GRID TRANSFORMATION
NEED: Dominion needed to heavily invest in upgrading the power grid and converting to a collection of smart tools and services.
Energy wanted a video that demonstrated the need to permit, and invest in, improved Smart Technology.
Communicate how technology can prevent outages, report issues, give customers choices, and save them money
Explain the importance of improving the entire power grid
Demonstrate how customers can conserve energy and encourage use during non-peak timeframes
Include Dominion’s investment in clean energy options like solar power
Appeal to the public, political leaders, and advocacy groups with the benefits and need for improvement and investment
DISCOVER: We started with a deep dive learning process during discovery to understand the power grid, the issues, and Dominion Energy’s goals. We provided them with several rounds of storyboard revisions, as well a design approval process for specific technology like Smart Meters and clean energy.
SOLUTION: We determined a digital sales tool video would be the best way to address the intersecting interests of grid improvement, technology improvement, and clean energy investment.
OUTCOME: The final animated video was used to gain acceptance and approval of their grid transformation project from the public, political leaders, and environmental advisor and advocacy groups like the Sierra Club.
DELIVERABLE: 2 minute video. High Quality digital 2d/3d animation.
WORKSITE LABS
NEED: During the Covid pandemic, there was an increased need in rapid testing processes. Enter Worksite Labs. This video was used to explain their labs, their process for rapid response, and was used in seeking investment in expanding their network of pop-up shipping-container satellite lab locations during the pandemic.
Simple, clear step-by-step process demonstration
Demonstrate accuracy of the tracking process during volume testing
Highly reliability as well as speed
DISCOVERY: We did a deep dive into the process at Worksite Labs to understand how it answers economic, logistical, medical and customer concerns. During the pandemic, testing alone could effect travel and access to required destinations producing a demand for immediate, reliable test results.
SOLUTION: The simple graphic approach allowed Worksite Labs to focus on the process, procedures, reliability and benefits of their technology. Worksite Labs was given design and animation review and approval to make sure this simplified introduction to their methods was accurate and clear enough for scrutiny from political leaders, advocacy groups, the medical industry, and potential investors.
OUTCOME: The video was used to explain the need and process of Worksite Labs in their pursuit of rapid expansion of pop-up container labs during the massive demand for high volume testing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
DELIVERABLE: 90 second video. High Quality 2d motion graphics video.
